Users are currently unable to log into services like Xbox, Minecraft, and Sea of Thieves as a result of service disruptions hitting Microsoft’s Azure cloud framework.
The same issues are also affecting Microsoft Office, illustrating just how central Azure is.
The platform, which serves as the massive cloud backbone for virtually all Microsoft products, is the root cause for the outages across both gaming and productivity tools.
The service disruption was first reported at approximately 4 PM GMT (11:00 EST / 8:00 PST). The core problem lay within Azure’s authentication services, which are critical for the server infrastructure and player logins of games such as Minecraft and Sea of Thieves.
Consequently, this authentication failure rendered players unable to log in, initiate multiplayer sessions, or retrieve cloud-stored game data. Furthermore, transactions and downloads on the Xbox Store were also suspended during the outage.
Is Minecraft Server Down?

Customers are struggling to access the Azure Portal, and Microsoft is on the case. The company has updated the portal with an acknowledgement of the situation.
The service status, as of a minute ago, reads: “We are investigating an issue with the Azure Portal where customers may be experiencing issues accessing the portal.”
Because the Azure portal is down, significant login and accessibility problems are being reported across Azure servers. This outage is immediately affecting anything dependent on Azure portal access.
Though broader impacts on other gaming services are possible, the listed games are confirmed to be experiencing issues directly stemming from the Azure Outage.
It is also regrettable that this event is unfolding only hours before the release of Microsoft’s major earnings report. This timing serves as an instant obstacle, effectively curtailing optimism surrounding the financial results.
